That decrepit rose
Taped and shredded, 5 years old
Soon all gone and dust

WATCHING

TRASH HUMPERS, Directed by Harmony Korine

Okay, this was... funny? He and his wife dressed up, filming each other on VHS, running around, doing...slightly transgressive things? His easiest film to date. I was into it and got it after the first twenty minutes. And then I waited for two hours. I have much respect for this man, but I think he used to create films that mirrored his life- and now he has to reach too far to get to that same place. Why don't his films evolve with his own life changes? The last scene got closest to where he is now- I think that would have been a perfect beginning.

ANTICHRIST, Directed by Lars Von Trier

This is a battle of art vs. story, and I think art wins. The story is fantastic, but stops short of something truly remarkable. But it's close. (Charlotte Gainesbourg is writing a thesis on "gynocide" and had this thought process and image presentation been pushed to a conclusion it would have been a cult triumph!) Besides a lack of "message" in this film and it's deeply disturbing imagery, it feels real. This film is pure expression- Von Trier claims it was a result of his extreme depression. I would guess that depression had to do with a really crazy woman. This is a feature installation, really, and should be watched late at night if at all possible. Imagine Bill Viola in Hell. One of the more graphically violent films in my recent memory. And also one of the most beautiful.

MNEMONICA

Mnemonica Trailer 1 from chris deleo on Vimeo.

I have been working on this strange and wonderful film with director Chris Deleo for the past year...and FINALLY...it is done! I play a ghost, Meghan, that haunts the hell out of Bucky Kapps, preventing him from carrying on a perfectly decent romance with his suitress, Alice Klosterman. As he gets closer to realizing/remembering what trouble I got into that ultimately destroyed me, his world collapses into a symphony of disturbing images delivered by a cast of otherworldly characters. Will Bucky make it? WATCH TO FIND OUT.

The director, Chris Deleo, is a professional magician, as is the leading actor and much of the crew! Chris' tricks are...freaky. And incredible! My favorite trick is when he guesses what you write on a piece of paper from across the room. HOW DOES HE DO THAT? MNEMONICA was filmed in Seaford, Long Island, where Chris turned part of his house into a beautiful set. Working with this crew was like living in the movie as reality blended before my very eyes into surreal adventures. Someday the whole story will be told, but for now just know it was epic. Each visit to Seaford was like a trip to another dimension. This film is blessed with that breath of the supernatural that is a cloud around this director and his close knit community. I know this film will intrigue and captivate audiences everywhere...stay TUNED!
